Skin · Pigmentation · Even Skin Tone
Uneven skin tone, dark spots, sun damage, and hyperpigmentation affect millions of Indians. Dr. Megha Sharma's personalised combination approach clears existing pigmentation and prevents its return.
About This Treatment
Hyperpigmentation occurs when melanocytes produce excess melanin in response to UV exposure, hormonal changes, inflammation, or injury. Most common types in India: Melasma (hormonal, symmetrical), Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation/PIH (after acne or injury), Solar lentigines (sun spots), Freckles, and Periorbital hyperpigmentation (dark circles). Effective treatment requires accurately identifying the type and depth, then applying the right targeted combination.
How It Works
FAQs
Sun exposure (UV triggers melanin), hormonal changes (pregnancy, contraceptive pills causing melasma), post-acne marks (PIH), and genetics (freckles).
Most epidermal pigmentation (sun spots, PIH, freckles) can be completely cleared. Melasma and dermal pigmentation show significant improvement but require ongoing maintenance.
Post-acne marks (PIH) respond well to chemical peels, Laser Toning, Pico Laser, and topical depigmenting agents. A combination approach gives the fastest results.
Melanocytes are easily re-stimulated by UV, hormones, or inflammation. Strict daily SPF 50+ and maintenance treatment are essential to prevent recurrence.
Most laser and peel treatments are not recommended during pregnancy. Vitamin C topical, azelaic acid, and sun protection are safe options. Dr. Megha advises on safe management.
