Skin · Acne Scars · Subcision
Subcision releases the fibrous bands that pull rolling and tethered scars downward — the most effective treatment for this scar type. Essential in any comprehensive scar protocol.
About This Treatment
Rolling and tethered acne scars are caused by fibrous bands anchoring the undersurface of the scar to deeper tissue — pulling the skin downward to create the depressed appearance. No laser or peel can correct this from above. Subcision releases these fibrous bands from below using a tri-bevelled needle or blunt cannula inserted parallel to the skin surface under the scar. PRP or filler can be injected into the subcised space immediately to support and maintain correction.

FAQs
Specifically rolling scars (wave-like undulation) and tethered boxcar/atrophic scars where fibrous bands pull the scar down. Ice pick scars do not respond to subcision.
Local anaesthetic injected makes it comfortable. Bruising at subcision sites for 7–10 days is normal and expected.
1–3 sessions per area. Rolling scars typically need 2–3 as fibrous bands can partially reform between sessions.
Yes — subcision is most effective combined with Fractional CO2 or MNRF (stimulates surface collagen after subcision releases tethering) and PRP. Multi-modal approach gives the best results.
7–10 days of bruising and mild swelling. Normal activities resume in 2–3 days; bruising can be covered with makeup.
